Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry

Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry was President of the World Maritime University in Malmo for eight years until July 2023. Prior to her appointment to the WMU, Cleopatra worked at the International Labour Organisation for almost three decades. She joined the ILO in 1986 and served as a senior lawyer and in other management posts before becoming the first woman Director of the International Labour Standards Department. As Director of International Labour Standards, Cleopatra led the ILO’s delegation in interagency collaborations such as the IMO/ILO ad hoc expert working groups. Cleopatra was instrumental for the progress of the Maritime Labour Convention within the ILO. She is Barrister at Law and Solicitor, entitled to practise in all English-speaking Caribbean jurisdictions and a member of the Inns of Court, UK.
