Kuba Szymanski
Captain Kuba Szymanski is Secretary General of the International Ship Managers’ Association (InterManager). Kuba started his career at sea in 1985. Sailing as a deck officer with Dorchester Maritime Limited in gas, chemical and product tankers, Kuba rose to first commander in 1999. Ashore, Kuba worked as a Marine Superintendent, Fleet Manager and General Manager. He was appointed Secretary General of InterManager in January 2010.
Through his role at InterManager, Kuba participated in industry-wide projects, including the development of the Key Performance Indicators (KPI), the Save Our Seafarers campaign and, most recently, the Martha Project which focused on seafarers’ fatigue. Kuba currently chairs the Human Element Industry Group (HEIG) Enclosed Space Committee. Kuba sits on the board the TK Foundation, a non-profit promoting maritime youth programs and as of 2022, is chairman of the board of the Seafarers Hospital Society (SHS), a 200-year-old maritime charity providing healthcare and advice services to seafarers and fishers. Since 2006, Kuba is a lecturer on ship management at the International Business School, Isle of Man.
