Noel G. Tijam
Noel G. Tijam is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines (2017-2019) and former member of the Judicial and Bar Council of the Philippines (2019-2022). Justice Tijam served as Justice of Court of Appeals from 2003 to 2017. He graduated cum laude and class salutatorian from the San Beda College of Law in 1971. Tijam served as legal consultant for Senator Victor Ziga and worked as assistant vice president and deputy corporate secretary of the Government Service Insurance System. He also served as legal counsel and corporate secretary of the Manila Hotel Corp. and the Westin Philippine Plaza. Judge Tijam was named presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City, Branch 221 in 1994 before being promoted to the Court of Appeals in 2003. Tijam was a finalist for the most outstanding Regional Trial Court Judges Award conferred by the Foundation for Judicial Excellence in 1999. He received the Philippine Jaycees’ Most Outstanding JAYCEE Award and the Junior Chamber International Senatorship Award in 1997.
Judge Tijam is a professorial lecturer at the Philippine Judicial Academy where he is part of the Remedial Law Department. He handles subjects on pre-trial and trial skills, legal ethics, oral advocacy, legal writing and remedial law.
